Static weight
What the paddle weighs on a scale, in ounces. Less useful than swing weight for predicting feel.
Static weight is the number printed on the box. Most paddles fall within a narrow band around eight ounces, which is why two paddles with the same static weight can feel so different: the distribution of that weight, captured by swing weight and balance point, matters more than the total.
Static weight still matters for fatigue over a long session and for players with arm problems, who usually do better with a lighter paddle that also has a modest swing weight.
